Amitabh Reza's Rickshaw Girl in Oscar-qualifying film festival
Director Amitabh Reza's Rickshaw Girl, predicated on Mitali Perkins' book of the same title, has been selected for Oscar qualifying festival, Durban International Film Festival. Producer Eric J Adams revealed the news. "Thrilled to announce our film Rickshaw Girl has been invited to compete and screen at the Durban International Film Festival, South Africa's oldest film festival.

This acceptance qualifies us to submit to the Academy Awards next year." Starring Novera Ahmed in the lead role, the film tells the story of a brave Bangladeshi girl who disguises herself as a boy and starts driving a rickshaw to help her struggling family. Previously, Transit by Ariq Anam Khan and Life put simply by Abrar Athar were also screened at Oscar qualifying festivals.
