Alpha to represent Bangladesh at 92nd Oscars
Alpha', the third film from National Film Award winning filmmaker Nasiruddin Yousuff Bachchu, is going to represent Bangladesh in Best Foreign Language Film category at the '92nd Academy Award' (Oscar).

Bangladesh Federation of Film Societies president and the chairman of Oscar Bangladesh Committee Habibur Rahman Khan provided details at a press conference on Saturday. Habibur Rahman Khan informed that a total of three films were submitted this year for participating in the Best Foreign Language Film category. 

The films are Masum Aziz's 'Sonatoner Galpo', Tauquir Ahmed's 'Fagun Haway' and Nasiruddin Yousuff Bachchu's 'Alpha'. The nine-member Oscar Bangladesh Committee has nominated 'Alpha' for representing Bangladesh in Oscar.  

Among others, Bangladesh Film Federation president Professor Abdus Selim, Film Directors' Association president and also a member of Oscar Bangladesh Committee Mushfiqur Rahman Gulzar and Film Producers' Association president Khorshed Alam Khasru were present at the press meet.

Faridur Reza Sagar, one of the producers of 'Alpha', also spoke at the press meet. Nasiruddin Yousuff Bachchu, who had earlier directed the films 'Ekattorer Jishu' (1993) and 'Guerrilla' (2011), has written both the story and script of 'Alpha'. The film revolves around the life of a rickshaw art painter.

Produced by Faridur Reza Sagar and Esha Yousuff, the film has been made under the banner of Impress Telefilm. The film is edited by Catherine Masud. The film casts artist Alamgir Kabir as the protagonist, while Doyel Mash, ATM Shamsuzzaman, Mostafizur Noor Imran, and Heera Chowdhury, among others, in different roles.

The 92nd Academy Awards ceremony, presented by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, will honour the best films of 2019 and will take place on February 9, 2020 at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles, California.
