AL's Int sub-committee holds webinar
The International Affairs Sub-committee of Awami League (AL) organized a webinar on ‘50 years of Bangladesh: Economy, Society, People, and Leadership’ to reflect the struggle of the people, determine the achievements and offer challenges going forward.
The keynote speakers in this webinar were Dr Dianne Bolton, adjunct professor of Swinburne University of Australia, Dr Eirik Jansen, a study fellow and Dr Anders Corr.
Besides, Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen, Dr Atiur Rahman, former Governor of Bangladesh Bank, Ambassador (Rtd.) Muhammad Zamir, Chairman of International Affairs Sub-committee of AL, and secretary Shammi Ahmed also took part in the webinar.
The keynote speakers within their speeches highlighted the tremendous transformation of the country which it experienced.
Dr Dianne Bolton linked this issue of governance and leadership to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). She highlighted the integration of equity principle in planning and the idea of leaving no-one behind is allied with the SDGs.
Dr Eirik Jansen reminisced his amount of time in Bangladesh as a study fellow through the late 1970s. He explained that the situation was dire in the late 1970s and 1980s. He appreciated Bangladesh's development during the last decade.
Dr Anders Corr appreciated the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's stance in her latest UN address. She followed Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's policy on world peace and anti-exploitation.
Foreign minister AK Abdul Momen provided the metrics of achievements of the country over the years highlighting the achievements of the AL-led government. He further appreciated the initiative taken by the International Affairs Sub-committee and stated the opinions of such renowned researchers be presented.
Dr Atiur Rahman provided an in depth outline of the achievements of Bangladesh and the turnaround in fortunes over the last decade.
Shammi Ahmed linked the dynamic leadership of the Prime Minister to the achievement of sustainable financial growth.
