After 1,128 Times, Soriano makes tearful return
Villarreal captain Bruno Soriano revealed he considered retirement after building an emotional comeback following more than three years about the sidelines. Not since May 2017 had Soriano performed a casino game for his boyhood golf club -- two operations and an agonizing recovery leaving the 36-year-old out of actions. But after 1,128 days without football, Soriano finally came back in the 88th minute of Monday's 2-2 La Liga pull at home to Sevilla.
"It has been such a long time since I performed that I nearly don't know what to state," a tearful Soriano advised Movistar post-match. "I'm happy, of course. I had attempted to return many times and it wasn't conceivable." Asked if he previously ever considered pension, Soriano replied: "There have been some a down economy where I imagined that maybe the great thing was to avoid, because there have been various disappointments in a row. But now I'm heading to make an effort to help the team."
