8 passport office brokers jailed, fined
Eight brokers of Agargaon passport office have been sentenced to different jail terms during a raid.

A mobile court, led by executive magistrate Anisur Rahman and ASP Shahab Uddin of Rapid Action Battalion-2, gave them the jail terms and also fined.

Convicts Masud Khan, 45, Mohsin Miah, 28, Jasim Kazi, 29, and Hemayet Hossain sentenced to three months imprisonment; Nurunnabi, 40, and Tawhidul Islam, 34, to two months;  and Babul Hawlader and Neyamat Sheikh were fined Tk 10,000 each.

Shahab Uddin said the gang took amount of Tk 20,000 to 1 lakh from applicants. Recently, it took Tk 70,000 from a applicant who did not get his passport yet. But the brokers did not return his money.

After getting the allegation, a team of RAB-2 conducted the drive at the office from Monday noon to 11pm and sentenced the eight.
