8 NGO workers held for 'funding militancy'
Members of the Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime unit (CTTC) of the DMP have arrested eight NGO workers from Mirpur in Dhaka for their alleged involvement in funding militancy.

The CTTC conducted a drive on Wednesday night and nabbed eight workers of NGO 'Small Kindness Bangladesh' alongwith Tk 13 lakh in cash.

CTTC's deputy commissioner Mohibul Islam told media on Thursday that this group have raised fund from a number of countries including Pakistan to financially assist JMB and Ansar-al-Islam.

They wanted to strengthen their activities in Chattogram region, he said adding that most of the arrested persons once had involved with Jamaat-e-Islami and Islami Chhatra Shibir.

But, he did not mentioned the identities of the arrested persons.
