Truck kills NGO official in Rajshahi
An official of non-government organization (NGO) Caritas was killed after being hit by a speedy truck in Mohanpur upazila of Rajshahi district on Saturday noon (August 11).
The deceased was identified as Shariful Islam, 42, son of one Altaf Mandal of Miapara village of Chapai Nawabganj district. He was the manager of Caritas Durgapur upazila unit.
Mohanpur police station officer-in-charge (OC) SM Abul Kashem Azad told Banglanews that Shariful was heading workplace by a motorbike. The accident happened on Rajshahi-Naogaon highway as the truck rammed the motorbike leaving him dead on spot.
On information, police recovered the body and detained truck driver Akhter Ali. A case is being filed over the incident, he added.
