5 Ansar al-Islam men arrested in city
Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested five members of the banned militant outfit Ansar al-Islam from Jatrabari area in the capital.
Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit of DMP launched the drive at Sontek area on Tuesday night (April 30).
The arrestees were- Md Saifullah, 26, Md Abdul Alim, 22, Fayzullah, 18, Jahirul Islam, 19, Mainuddin alias Sajib, 19.
"A total of 20 detonators and two machetes were seized from them," DMP Deputy Commissioner (DC) (Media) Masudur Rahman said.
"The arrestees gathered to commit acts of sabotage. A case was filed with Jatrabari police station in this connection," Masudur Rahman also said.
