39th National Cricket Championship begins today
The 39th edition of the National Cricket Championship (NCC) will begin today (February 27) at 16 different venues across the country.
Sixty-four district teams, split into eight groups, will participate in the limited overs competition. The teams will compete in a two-tier competition-- Tier 1 and Tier 2-- with each tier consisting of 32 teams equally.
The Tier-1 meet is a single league competition with top finisher of each group will qualify for the second round while bottom team relegated to Tier-2 of the meet from next season.
The eight group toppers will be placed in two groups of four teams with the group champions fighting for the final.
In Tier-2, the top teams from each group will get prompted to Tier- 1 for the next season. There is no second round in Tier 2.
