21st Young Artist Art Exhibition kicks off July 15
A two-week ‘21st Young Artist Art Exhibition’ will kick off on July 15 at the auditorium of National Art Gallery of Shilpakala Academy.
The announcement was made recently at a press conference organised by Shilpakala Academy at its seminar room in the city.
Cultural Affairs Minister Assaduzzaman Noor will inaugurate the exhibition as the chief guest while BSA director general Liaquat Ali will preside over the opening ceremony on July 14.
Director General of Shilpakala Academy Liaquat Ali Lucky said the exhibition will provide the young and budding artists with a great platform to expose their works to the art connoisseurs.
He also said that the participants of the exhibition are now leading in the different areas of the arts and achieving different awards as well as being recognised nationally.
This year, 787 artists took part in a competition with 1976 paintings. Judges have selected 412 artworks of 380 artists to be exhibited finally.
A young artist will be awarded for the best work in the ‘Young Artist Art Exhibition’. Moreover, three awards including honourary awards will be given in three categories – printmaking, painting and sculpture.
The name of winners will be announced on the opening day of the exhibition.
The exhibition will remain open from 11 am to 8 pm every day and from 3 pm to 8 pm on public holidays. The exhibition will be concluded on July 29.
The exhibition is being organised since 1975 where country’s prominent artists Zainul Abedin and Kamrul Hasan were present in the first exhibition.
