2 killed in Rajbari truck accident
Two people were killed after a truck ran over a motorcycle and a van driver in Baliakandi upazila of the district on Tuesday (July 30).
The accident happened at Anando Bazar under Nawabpur union of the upazila around 11:30 pm.
The deceased were identified as Jamal Mandal, 45, the motorcyclist from Madhupur village under Narua union of the upazila, and Islam Sheikh, 50, van driver of Thakur Naopara village of Islampur union.
Police detained the killer truck driver Pikul over the incident. Pikul was, son of Abdus Salam, a resident of Sirajdia village in Magura.
Officer-in-charge (OC) of Baliakandi police station AKM Ajmal Huda told Banglanews that two persons were killed on the spot.
Two bodies were recovered and sent to the District Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy report. The killer truck driver has been detained. Legal proceedings are underway in this regard, OC also said.
