2 arrested over gang rape of woman
Police have arrested two people on charge of violating a woman in Ashulia of Savar upazila, on the outskirts of Dhaka.
The arrested persons are : Mithun Patwari, 24, is the son of Bangladesh Awami Sangskritik League's central organizing secretary AR Mantu, and Arfan, 21, of Gazirchat area of Ashulia.
Ashulia Police Station inspector Jabed Masud said a woman was allegedly gang raped by six people in Gazirchat area on Saturday evening.
Later, the victim filed a case with Ashulia Police Station accusing six people, including Mithun, Arfan, Akash, Linka and two unknown persons in this connection.
After the case was registered, police conducted drive in the area at night and nabbed Mithun and Arfan.
Meanwhile, the rape victim was admitted to the One-Stop Crisis Center at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
Quoting victim's family members, police said the the woman came to her younger sister's house in the area on Saturday morning. In the evening, the accused persons entered the house, confined the victim's younger sister and her husband in a room and violated her.
