17 juvenile inmates escape Gazipur safe home
Seventeen female inmates have escaped a Safe Home (Detention and rehabilitation center for Women, Child and Juvenile inmates) in Mogarkhal area of Gazipur City Corporation on Friday night (Sep 7).
Following the escape, 12 of them were arrested in drives conducted in Gazipur and Mirzapur areas.
The Deputy Commissioner of Gazipur has formed a 3-member probe body over the incident.
According to safe home and police sources, there were 34 female inmates, all under the age of 18 years, in the Mohila, Shishu o Kishori Hefajotider Nirapad Abashan Kendra. On Friday night, 17 juveniles escaped by first breaking a first floor window grill and then climbing down using bed sheet as rope. Later local police was informed.
Safe Home Super Zobaida Khatun said eight girls were arrested from Mirzapur rail station area and four others from Joydebpur area on Saturday noon. Drives are underway to detain the rest escapees.
