Authorities found in North Macedonia have got found 211 migrants, including 144 Bangladeshi nationals, packed into a truck close to the country's southern border with Greece throughout a routine check up on a regional street, according to police.

Of the 211, 63 minors are minors.

A border patrol halted the truck about midnight on Monday near to the town of Gevgelija, and discovered the migrants - 144 from Bangladesh and 67 from Pakistan - packed indoors, police said on Tuesday.

The truck driver, a 27-year-old Macedonian countrywide identified by police only by his initials EP, was arrested, reports Aljazeera.

The migrants were detained and transferred to a shelter transit centre in Gevgelija pending deportation back again to Greece.

The Greek border with North Macedonia was closed earlier this season because of the coronavirus pandemic.

But trafficking networks continue to be active in the area, ferrying migrants who produce their approach from Turkey into Greece and head north towards even more prosperous countries in the European Union's center and north.
