10-member committee for Shaban moon-sighting
The government has formed a 10-member committee to end an existing confusion over sighting the moon of Shaban month this year.
The committee will deliver their decision before Shab-e-Barat, within April 17.
State Minister for Religious Affairs Sheikh Md Abdullah disclosed the move after holding a meeting of National Moon Sighting Committee, at the conference room of Islamic Foundation in Baitul Mukarram National Mosque Saturday (April 13).
The committee, headed by Markazud Dawah Al-Islamia Director General Maolana Mufti Abdul Malek, will take the decision as per Sharia rule.
In a latest move, the committee was formed following a controversy emerged over sighting the moon of Shaban month on April 6.
