1 killed, 3 police injured in Narail ‘gunfight’
A listed terrorist was killed during a gunfight with police at Kararbil area in Narail Sadar upazila.
The incident happened around 3 pm on Wednesday (January 16).
28-year-old Rumman Hossen Romio, son of Mizanur Rahman, was from Madhurgati village under Narail Sadar upazila.
On secret information, police raided Kararbil area as a band of terrorists was plotting to commit a crime, said Ilias Hossen, officer-in-charge (OC) of Narail Sadar police station.
Sensing police presence, terrorists opened fire. In self defense, police retaliated, triggering the gun battle.
Romio, as he became bullet-injured, was declared dead at Narail Sadar hospital. Three police personnel were also injured in the gunfight.
A foreign pistol, 2 rounds of bullets, and a magazine were recovered from the spot.
A total of 13 cases on charges of murder, robbery etc were filed against Romio with Narail, Jessore and Abhaynagar police stations.
