Water transport workers call off strike
Water transport workers called off their strike hours after the enforcement on Wednesday.
The Noujan Sramik Odhikar Sangrakshan Oikya Parishad joint convenor Sheikh Md Omar Farruq confirmed the withdrawal of the strike.
"We withdrew the work abstention following assurance given by the Labour and Employment Ministry to meet our demands. Workers of the passenger vessels have withdrawn the strike, but the strike of the goods-laden vessels' workers will continue."
Earlier this morning, the workers went on work stoppage to press home their 15-point demands.
The Noujan Sramik Odhikar Sangrakshan Oikya Parishad (River Vessel Workers' Rights Protection Unity Concil) called the work abstention from a human chain programme held on November 20.
