Viqarunnisa School student 'commits suicide'
A student of Viqarunnisa Noon School & College reportedly committed suicide at her home in Shantinagar of capital Dhaka on Monday.

The girl, Oritri Odhikari, 15, was a student of Class IX at the school, said Paltan Police Station sub-inspector Ataur Rahman, reports a Bangla newspaper.

The family alleged that she committed suicide after the school authorities insulted her father for her alleged copying in examination.

Quoting family members, the SI said the girl hanged her from the ceiling fan in her room in the afternoon. Critically injured, she was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where the on-duty doctors declared her dead.

Dilip Odhikari, father of the victim, said the school authorities found a mobile phone with Oritri during her annual examination on Sunday. Later, the authorities informed him that they decided to issue transfer certificate (TC) for Oritri on charge of cheating in the exam with the mobile phone. In the face of harsh rebuke by the school authorities, she took her own life, Dilip added.

Dilip Odhikari alleged, "The school authorities insulted me in front of her and decided Oritri cannot sit in examination. Oritri committed suicide after returning home as she cannot bear the mental trauma."
