UK 'now seeing another wave' of Covid-19
THE UNITED KINGDOM is "now seeing another wave" of Covid-19, Prime Minister Boris Johnson has said, adding: "It's been inevitable we'd view it in this country."
Mr Johnson said he didn't "want to get into bigger lockdown measures" but that tighter public distancing rules might be necessary.
It is understood a new three-tiered group of restrictions has been considered.
The plan would aim to avoid a countrywide lockdown but could stop household-to-household contact.
The first tier will be the degree of measures currently set up in most elements of England now - with social distancing the key aspect.
The next tier would involve what is becoming imposed in north-east of England - curfews on hospitality venues and a ban on meetings between households.
The ultimate third tier would involve stricter lockdown measures.
If this course of action is put into action, "Tier two" limitations are expected to be imposed on a region-by-region basis, nonetheless it is thought likely that they could finally cover almost all of the UK.
London Mayor Sadiq Khan said it was "increasingly likely" that the nine million persons in the capital will have to follow areas including the north-east of England and arrive under additional measures.
An profile of a meeting of which the three-tier actions were discussed has been distributed to the BBC. It described the government's shielding policy was as well "being actively examined" and a decision could come soon on further actions to safeguard the vulnerable.
Any more shielding decisions are anticipated to take a a lot more tailored approach than before.
With the virus likely to be more severe over the wintertime, officials are looking at bringing in methods that could last until the spring.
Before, BBC political editor Laura Kuenssberg said the government was considering a brief period of tighter guidelines across England that may be announced within the next week, that could involve closing hospitality venues.
It comes just as the UK has recorded another 4,322 confirmed Covid-19 cases.
Public Wellness England's medical director Yvonne Doyle warned of "much worse what to come" as the UK documented widespread growth of the virus in the united states.
"Clearly when you glimpse at what's happening, you've got to wonder whether we need to go beyond the guideline of six that people earned," the primary minister said, discussing measures introduced in Monday.
He added that "the British persons have done an incredible work - they've brought that peak straight down by discipline" but that "people find it hard to keep this up, it's difficult to keep that discipline for some time".
Speaking in Oxfordshire, Mr Johnson stated the government would preserve "everything under review" but another national lockdown was "the very last thing anybody wants".
"You want to keep institutions open," he said. "You want to keep carefully the economy open so far as we possibly can, you want to keep businesses going."
Mr Johnson added: "The only way we can do this is, obviously, if persons follow the guidance."
