Two dead, 8 injured in Virginia Beach oceanfront shootings
Two people are dead and eight persons were wounded in shootings along Virginia Beach's oceanfront, law enforcement said Saturday.Eight persons were shot soon after 11 p.m. Friday, Virginia Beach police said in a news let go. All eight were taken up to local hospitals, with a few of their conditions which range from serious to life-threatening.

One girl died of a gunshot wound on the scene, the let go said. At an earlier news conference, law enforcement Chief Paul Neudigate stated the death quite possibly stemmed from an unrelated shooting. The release as well said one officer suffered minimal injuries. Neudigate had explained the officer was struck by a car during the investigation.

A different officer fatally shot a guy at the shooting scene. While officers had been investigating the initial shooting, shots were fired nearby, Neudigate said. The officer confronted the person, resulting in the deadly gunfire. The officer has been located on administrative leave.

He has been with the section for five years and is assigned to its special operations division. The original shooting and the officer capturing were staying investigated concurrently, the let go said. "We've a very chaotic incident, an extremely chaotic night," Neudigate said through the news conference.Zero suspect information was immediately obtainable. Neudigate said several persons were in police custody but their feasible involvement in the shooting was even now under investigation. Multiple roads had been blocked off through the entire night while law enforcement worked in the area.
