Turkish Airlines extends suspension of international flights
Turkish Airlines has extended its suspension of most international flights until May 1 in efforts to support the spread of the novel coronavirus, the national flag carrier announced on April 1.
The airline also limited its domestic businesses to 14 metropolitan cities - Adana, Ankara, Antalya, Diyarbakır, Erzurum, Gaziantep, Istanbul, Izmir, Kayseri, Konya, Malatya, Samsun, Trabzon and Van - while all the domestic flights have been halted until May 1, Bilal Eksi, Chief Executive Officer of the carrier said in a statement.
For domestic transportation, travel between cities is at the mercy of local authorities' permission.
Also, passengers who are nationals of 69 countries including Bangladesh, passengers who've transited from or gone to these countries within the last 2 weeks and passengers arriving from these countries will never be permitted to enter Turkey and the mentioned passengers should not be permitted to board the aircraft. Otherwise, they'll be entered into a 14-day quarantine after their arrival to Turkey.
From the Chinese city of Wuhan in December, the virus, officially referred to as COVID-19, has spread to at least 176 countries and regions.
The global death toll from the virus has hit 59,245 with 1,119,744 confirmed cases and 229,338 recoveries currently, according to https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/
So far, a complete of 425 people in Turkey have died from the coronavirus, the website states.
