Trump administration appeals courtroom ruling blocking US TikTok ban
The Trump administration on Mon appealed a federal court ruling that allows TikTok to keep operating in the United States despite a proceed to block the favorite social media application on countrywide security grounds.
The Justice Department filed the appeal wanting to enforce a ban on TikTok by President Donald Trump, who has argued that the app’s Chinese parent company might use TikTok for espionage also to spread disinformation.
The filing didn't include arguments for enforcing the ban, which have been rejected earlier this month by US District Judge Carl Nichols and in a parallel case filed in Pennsylvania.
Nichols said TikTok’s lawyers had demonstrated that the Commerce Division likely overstepped its authority by wanting to ban the favorite social media iphone app and “acted in an arbitrary and capricious approach by failing woefully to consider clear alternatives.”
The White House claims TikTok is a national risk of security as a result of potential links to the Beijing government through its Chinese owner ByteDance.
Trump’s purchase said the actions was necessary to “protect our countrywide secureness” and claimed the personal info of TikTok users could possibly be used by Beijing.
TikTok has repeatedly defended itself against allegations of info transfers to the Chinese federal government, saying it stores user info on servers in america and Singapore.
TikTok includes a further attack on its hands more than a great August 14 executive order from Trump to drive ByteDance to market its US businesses to an American client.
