Tough transitioning again as a new player: Holder
West Indies Check captain Jason Holder confessed that his changeover from ODI captain to "only a player" is not smooth.

Holder was first replaced by Kieron Pollard seeing as the white-ball captain last September, and he admitted adjusting to the new demands was tricky.

"To be quite honest, it has been tough transitioning again just as a new player," he told the Cricket Collective podcast. "In hindsight, it has been tough trying to comprehend how to get back as just a player."

Holder admitted that he is not a consistent performer in the last year. He had taken eight wickets in eight innings in the 2019 World Glass. But since then has picked up simply seven wickets in 10 ODI innings.

"Performances obviously haven't been there as I would've probably liked, but I'm not too disheartened," he stated. "I don't get also worried because I know my ability. I really know what I can generate. I just understand that an innings is just about the part, a bowling work is just about the corner."

The 28-year-old said that playing a whole lot had taken a toll on him and a break from leadership allows him to recharge his batteries.

"I felt I needed the break following the India series [in December] particularly, merely to refresh," he explained. "I had played every single series in the complete season [in 2019], I played county cricket aswell, and my batteries required a small amount of a recharge.
