Theatre troupe Batighar  celebrates 8th founding anniv
Batighar celebrated its eighth founding anniversary by organizing a program featuring music, dance and theatre show at the Studio Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy on Friday.

Secretary General of Bangladesh Group Theatre Federation Kamal Bayazid, its joint secretary Chandan Reza, theatre activist Bakar Bokul, Bangladesh Street Theatre Federation general secretary Ahmed Gias and actor Rawnak Hasan, among others, were present at the program. 

The program began with a dance performance choreographed by Shishir Sarkar. Next artistes rendered Tagore song Anadaloke mangalaloke and others Shishir Sarkar, Swarul Biswas, Rumman Sharu, Sanjoo Goswami, Johnny Sen Rubel, Sabrina Sharmin presented songs at the event.  

Besides, the troupe staged an hour-long monodrama titled 'Himur Kolpito Diary' based on Nawshad Hasan Himu, better known as Himaloy Himu, who worked as a volunteer rescuer during the Rana Plaza collapse. He set himself on fire on the 6th anniversary of the collapse of Rana Plaza. The play revolves around the events which influenced Himu to end his life.

The play is written and directed by Muktonil. It was performed by Saddam Rahman. It was a technical show and the premiere show will be held at a later date the organizers confirmed.   

It starts by portraying Himu's sufferings and finally he attempts to hang himself but right before that he starts to talk about the various issues that bother him. Besides Rana Plaza tragedy, he speaks about Tonu rape case, murder of Biswajit, Rampal power plant and others.
