Swedish House Mafia to perform at Abu Dhabi F1 concert
Swedish House Mafia will perform as part of the Abu Dhabi Formula One after-race concerts in November. The recently reformed EDM group will take to the stage at the Etihad Park on Friday, November 18, in what will be the second of a planned four nights at the venue beginning on November 18.

The announcement was made as part of the official Abu Dhabi F1 launch on Wednesday at Yas Marina Circuit. The news is a coup for the event, with Swedish House Mafia undertaking one of the industry’s most anticipated world tours.

Considered a supergroup, the trio comprises of solo EDM stars DJs Axwell, Sebastian Ingrosso and Steve Angello. Formed in 2008 before initially disbanding in 2013, the group immediately made an impact on both the dance and pop music world's.

Hits such as 2011's Save the World and 2012's Don't You Worry Child not only ushered a new mainstream sound of progressive house music, but through massive festival appearances such as 2019’s Lollapalooza and sold-out arena performances, Swedish House Mafia highlighted how dance music appeal could extend beyond clubs and genre-specific festivals. In addition to the hits, Swedish House Mafia's Abu Dhabi show will feature tracks from their coming album Paradise Again, which is out on April 15. The concert is part of their world tour, beginning in US city of Miami on July 29. It will come on the back of the last show of their European leg in Finland on November 13.

The tour will feature plenty of massive shows, including a headline performance at Coachella festival in April 15 and 22, and London's 02 Arena on October 2.

Speaking to The National, John Lickrish, chief executive of F1 concert organiser Flash Entertainment, promised a spectacle. "Just seeing the rider from group I can safely say that it will be a massive show," he said. "It is amazing to have them here, because they recently reformed, have a new album out soon and we are part of the biggest electronic music tour of the year."

Lickrish also said the remaining three after-race concert acts “are already in line” and will be announced in due course later in the year. While unable to name any of the acts, Lickrish said the artists roughly follow Flash Entertainment’s winning format, with the race-day concert consisting of an artist with a hefty greatest hits catalogue.

"What I can say is that I am personally very excited about this year's artist line-up," he said. "I think we are selecting amazing acts and we did have that extra bit of luck in getting them. Then again, I feel that the harder you work the luckier you get."

Access to Swedish House Mafia’s concert is exclusive to Abu Dhabi Grand Prix ticket holders. Ticket are available online from Dh300 at www.yasmarinacircuit.com and through the Yas Marina Circuit Call Centre on 800 927 or +971 (0) 2 659 9800.
