Students demonstrating for 7th day; Checking license
Agitating students started checking license on Saturday morning after taking position at different points of city as part of their ongoing movement for safe roads for the seven consecutive day.
The protesters formed human chain and brought out protest procession at Science Laboratory intersection around 11am.
Later, they took position on the road to press home their nine-point demands.
The students examined legal documents and fitness certificates of different vehicles at different points including Shahbagh, Science Laboratory intersection, Farmgate, Manik Miah Avenue. They were also seen regulating traffic, defying rain.
One of the female students of Dhaka City College said, "Our safe road demand is not illogical. So, we will continue our movement until the government will take proper initiatives in this regard."
Tejgaon Police Station OC Majharul Islam urged the students taking position on the road to carry their ID card to avert any kind indecent incident
Commuters in Dhaka are facing sufferings as transport owners suspended bus services fearing vandalism during ongoing movement of the students.
Earlier on July 29, two first year students of Shaheed Ramiz Uddin School and College, were killed and several injured as a 'Jabal-e-Noor Paribahan' bus ploughed through some of the students on Airport Road.
