Shock iPhone leaks confirm Android dominance in smartphone technology race

In the past, Apple was lauded for its secrecy but now, how times have changed. The 2019 iPhone’s launch is still months away but all of its features are practically out in the open. The 2019 iPhones will offer an incremental update over the iPhone XS series and these make for a boring device. The iPhone 11 and 11 Max are expected to come with three rear snappers and this will be one of the biggest changes seen on the 2019 iPhones. While this is all well and good and the next-generation iPhones will be some of the speediest there ever was; it still pales in comparison to what Android has to offer.

Brands like Huawei, OnePlus and Samsung are all experimenting with different smartphone designs and launching handsets with pop-up cameras, punch-hole notches and in-display fingerprint scanners. Apple, on the other hand, is using tech that it introduced in 2017 — the notch that houses the TrueDepth camera and Face ID. While Apple’s implementation is arguably the best, there has been no real advancement by adding something revolutionary when it comes to eliminating the notch; which according to us is more of a design compromise than an actual feature.

While it appears that Apple will be sticking to the notch for at least two more years, brands like OPPO have already started teasing its under-display camera technology — which is the future of smartphone technology.

Apple will be adding three rear sensors on the iPhone 11 and this is expected to be a major improvement over the iPhone XS lineup. While it’s great that Apple is finally adding three rear sensors, certain Android handsets have added it over a year ago — making Apple late to the party once more. Nowadays, brands are going beyond three rear sensors and adding up to five shooters on the back. Apple’s handsets will undoubtedly be one of the best when it comes to photography but instead of adding this technology when it is already a commonplace; it would have made more sense if Apple added it last year. In fact, there are a lot of budget handsets that come with three cameras with maybe not that great image quality, but still completely capable.

With all this being said, the 2020 iPhone is the one worth holding your breath for as it will come with a notch-less design and rumours suggest that it will feature an under-display camera as well as a full-screen in-display fingerprint scanner thereby elevating its position quite drastically. However, even if Apple does add this technology, it will still be behind some of its Android rivals.
