Sheikh Jamal clinch Premier League T20 title
Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club clinched the title of the Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League (DPDCL) T20 on Monday beating Prime Doleshwar Sporting Club by 24 runs in the final at Shere-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.

Sheikh Jamal posted 157/7 while batting first in the match with the help of Imtiaz Hossian's 56 off 44 balls. Prime Doleshwar tumbled for 133/8 in 20 overs and lost the match by 24 runs. Imtiaz won the man of the match award for his fifty.

Shahidul Islam bagged four wickets for Jamal conceding 19 runs in four overs while Salahuddin Sakil took two wickets to ensure the title for their team.

Prime Doleshwar started chasing the target posting 62 runs in the first wicket stand. Saif Hassan (26) and Mohammad Arafat (33) managed that in the opening stand but they were too slow to respond to the situation.

In a span of 10 runs, Prime Doleshwar lost three wickets. They lost two more wickets before reaching the 100-run mark.

Saif scored 26 while Arafat struck 33, and along with them Farhad Reza smashed 45 off 20 deliveries with two fours and five sixes to his name.

Eventually, Prime Doleshwar's innings came to the end scoring 133/8 in 20 overs.

Earlier, Sheikh Jamal won the toss and opted to bat first. They accumulated 157 runs with the help of Imtiaz Hossain (56), captain Nurul Hasan Sohan (33) and Tanbir Hyder (31).

In the opening stand, Fardeen Hasan and Imtiaz posted 62 runs in 7.5 overs. Fardeen was the first man to get dismissed. He scored 18 for 20 deliveries. In quick succession, they lost two more wickets.

But Hasanuzzaman and Nasir Hossain failed to capitalise on that ideal start as they tumbled for 4 and 5 respectively. Sheikh Jamal disappointed to continue their start during the middle overs of the innings.

Ziaur Rahman, who helped Sheikh Jamal to reach the final scoring 72 off 29 in the semifinal, failed as he contributed two only. However, in the sixth wicket stand, Nurul Hasan and Tanbir Hyder collected 49 runs in 4.3 overs which accelerated Jamal to a moderate total of 157 for seven wickets.

Farhad Reza, the veteran all-rounder, scalped three wickets conceding 32 runs in four overs while Arafat Sunny, Enamul Haque Jnr, Manik Khan, Shykat Ali took one wicket each.

Farhad Reza was adjudged man of the series for his all-round performance.
