Shanto's 115 trumps Dhaka
Najmul Hossain Shanto became the first Bangladeshi batsman to score a hundred in the ongoing Bangabandhu Bangladesh Premier League as the left-hander helped Khulna Tigers to a commanding eight-wicket win over Dhaka Platoon in the last league-stage game at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur today.
The left-handed opener remained unbeaten on 115 off 57 deliveries -- the highest individual score in the tournament -- as Khulna chased down a challenging target of 206 in 18.1 overs with eight wickets in hand. Shanto's knock featured eight fours and seven sixes. Mehedi Hasan Miraz was the other notable scorer for Khulna as the right-hander added 45 off 25 balls.
Andre Fletcher and Dawid Malan had earlier made hundreds in this edition of the BPL.
Earlier, Mominul Haque’s 59-ball 91 and Mahedi Hasan’s unbeaten 68 off 36 balls had helped Dhaka score 205 for four in their allotted 20 overs.
