Shakib returns home after CPL stint, skips NCL 2nd round
Test skipper Shakib Al Hasan returned home on Wednesday after completing his stint with Caribbean Premier League (CPL) in which he played five matches including the final.

Shakib, however, got the taste of CPL title after his side Barbados Tridents beat Guyana Amazon Warriors by 27 runs in the final. The ace all-rounder didn’t have significant contribution as he scored just 15 and went wicket-less in bowling.

But he played key role in taking the side to the final, performing with both batting and bowling.
As he just returned home, he won’t play the second round of National Cricket League (NCL) that begins tomorrow with four matches in different venues across the country.

National stalwarts like Tamim Iqbal, Mushfiqur Rahim, Mahmudullah Riyad who are playing the league will get their last crack for the Test series in India with this round.

It is unlikely that Shakib will play any match of this NCL further as Bangladesh will be busy with India series in which they would play three- match T20 Internationals and two-match Test series.

Meanwhile, Test opener Shadman Islam and pacer Ebadat Hossain also will not play in this round. Ebadat was granted leave by the team management as he wanted to rest after bowling quite a few amount of overs in the just concluded tour of Sri Lanka with Bangladesh A while Sadman Islam had applied for leave as his mother is expected to go under operation shortly.

“Ebadat have bowled quite a few overs in the Sri Lanka tour with Bangladesh ‘A’and wanted some rest. We felt he requires some rest so he is not playing in the upcoming round,” selector Habibul Bashar said here on Wednesday.

”Sadman’s mother will go under operation and he wanted to be with her during this time. It’s a humanitarian cause and we felt he should be beside her mother rather playing the league,” he said.
