Shab-e-Barat on April 21, says state minister
Despite confusion over sighting of the new moon for the Arabic month of Shaban, the decision to observe holy Shab-e-Barat on the night of April 21 will remain in force.
The government has taken the decision based on the recommendations by the sub-committee formed to resolve the confusion.
State Minister for Religious Affairs Sheikh Md Abdullah informed journalists about the matter at the Secretariat on Tuesday.
The panel prepared a set of recommendations and forwarded to the Ministry of Religious Affairs.
Earlier on April 6, the national moon-sighting committee announced that the moon for the month had not been sighted and so Shab-e-Bara, falls on the 15th of Shaban, would be observed on the night of April 21.
