'RAW' is an ode to the brave hearts: John Abraham
Ever since the teaser of 'RAW' ('Romeo Akbar Walter') released on India's 70th Republic Day, it has caught the attention of every citizen who loves his motherland. Set in the tumultuous period of 1968-71, 'RAW' is based on true events which had an impact on the future of three countries - India, Pakistan and Bangladesh.

It was a period, which saw the subcontinent's most decisive battle marking the birth of Bangladesh. In just 13 days the Pakistan army surrendered unconditionally to the Indian army, making the 1971 war one of the shortest in history.

India's intelligence agencies played a very crucial part in this conflict, which made every Indian action precise, impactful and deadly. Written and directed by Robbie Grewal, 'Romeo Akbar Walter' is an espionage thriller which is a salute to those who serve the nation behind enemy lines and yet remain nameless, faceless and are often forgotten. The trailer of the much-anticipated film was launched on March 4.

The film has John Abraham in the lead who essays the role of a RAW agent who chooses to serve his country and sacrifices everything he has, even his very existence. The film also has a stellar ensemble star cast with Jackie Shroff, Mouni Roy, Suchitra Krishnamoorthi, Sikander Kherr and Raghubir Yadav in pivotal roles.

Speaking on the release of the trailer, John Abraham said, "RAW is a story that needs to be told especially in times like today. It is an ode to the brave hearts who serve the nation behind enemy lines remaining nameless, faceless and are often forgotten. It is one of my most challenging roles so far- pushing my limits with different looks, accents and personas.

Kudos to Robbie for making an original Indian espionage thriller with an entertaining and engaging storyline." Initially, the film was to be made with Sushant Singh Rajput playing the protagonist. In fact, the makers had also released a few teaser posters featuring Sushant. Later on, Sushant opted out of the movie for reasons best known to him. John Abraham later took up the project after Sushant's exit. RAW is set to hit the theatres on April 15.
