Rain brings sigh of relief to Dhaka dwellers after heatwave
Dhaka city dwellers heaved a sigh of relief on Thursday night with a downpour after several days of heat wave swept over various areas of the country including the capital.
Though there was no indication of rain in the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD)'s forecast, the sky was included in thick cloud from the evening. The sandstorm started out in the administrative centre at about 11:25pm. Although speed of the wind was less in the beginning, it gradually started increasing. The harsh sounds of the wind indicated the arrival of nor'wester. Then it started raining in conjunction with heavy wind. After several days of heatwave, the rain brought a sigh of relief to the lives of Dhaka city dwellers.
The BMD is yet to measure the rainfall in the administrative centre, and said there are likelihood of more rain within the next three days.
The country's maximum temperature 39.3 degrees Celsius was recorded in Rajshahi on Thursday, that was 38.3 degrees Celsius in Srimongol on Wednesday.
In Dhaka, the maximum temperature recorded on Thursday was 37.1 degrees Celsius.
