Qawmi Madrasas accord reception to PM Sunday
Al Haiatul Ulaya Lil-Jamiatul Kawmiya Bangladesh, a Qawmi madrasa board, will hold a ‘Shukrana Mahfil’ (thanks giving rally) tomorrow (Sunday) at Suhrawardy Udyan in the city where Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is likely to attend as the chief guest.
The body arranged the rally to hail the government for giving the Dawra-e-Hadith (Taqmil) of Qawmi Madrasas the status of master’s degree.
Al Haiatul Ulaya Lil-Jamiatul Kawmiya Bangladesh has completed all preparations to make the rally a grand success, Maulana Muhammad Abdul Quddus, mahfil organizing committee member, BSS reports.
Al Haiatul Ulaya Lil-Jamiatul Kawmiya Bangladesh Chairman Allama Ahmad Shafi will chair the mahfil to begin at 9 am, said Abdul Quddus, member of Al Haiatul Ulaya Lil-Jamiatul Kawmiya Bangladesh.
“We are going to organize a Shukrana Mahfil in the city, hailing the government for giving the Dawra-e-Hadith (Taqmil) of Qawmi Madrasas the status of master’s degree,” said Quddus, also secretary general of Befaqul Madarisil Arabia Bangladesh (BMAB).
“We’ve completed all preparations. We hope several lakh people will join the mahfil. There will be arrangement for toilets and water supply in the mahfil ground,” he said. Speaking about recognition of the Dawra-e-Hadith as master degree, Quddus, also Principal and Shaikhul Hadith of Faridabad Madarsa, said so far there was no official recognition of the Qawmi Madrasas education in the country.
Now the Qawmi Madrasa students could join the public service and teach Islamic education in different government and non-government schools, colleges and madrasas, he said, adding, “We are grateful to the government for giving the recognition as per our demand without bringing any change in the existing curriculum”.
Currently, the subjects Bangla and English are taught up to class eight, he said. “But we are now thinking to include the subjects up to class ten”.
Earlier, a preparatory meeting was held at Peerjangi Mazar Madrasah in the city on Tuesday for holding the mahfil.
Al Haiatul Ulaya Co-chairman Ashraf Ali presided over the preparatory meeting while Mufti Muhammad Wakkas, Befaqul Secretary General Mawlana Muhammad Abdul Quddus, Mawlana Mohammad Nurul Islam and Mufti Ruhul Amin attended the meeting, among others.
Teachers and students of the Qawmi Madrasas have been invited to attend the mahfil to make it a success.
On September 19, a bill titled ‘Dawra-e-Hadith (Taqmil) from Qawmi Madrasas as equivalent to certificate of master’s degree (Islamic Studies and Arabic) under Al Haiatul Ulaya Lil-Jamiatul Kawmiya Bangladesh’ 2018 was passed in parliament.
