Puma opens flagship store in Banani
Sportswear brand Puma made its entry into the Bangladesh market with the launch of its first flagship store on Banani Road 11 in the capital yesterday.

The opening was attended by Mushfiqur Rahim, Mahmudullah Riyad, Sabbir Rahman, Imrul Kayes, Liton Kumar Das, Abu Hider and Mosaddek Hossain Saikat of the Bangladesh cricket team.

“It's exciting to see a globally leading sportswear brand like Puma come in. Such news is motivating for professional athletes like me and sport enthusiasts across our country, as we see this as recognition of our evolving sporting environment,” said Mushfiqur Rahim.

“I can't wait to check out the store and hope we see many more Puma stores in Bangladesh in the near future,” he said.

Spread over 2,200 square feet, the outlet showcases Puma's latest performance and sport-style products, says a press release.

“Bangladesh has a rapidly growing sporting culture and is a strategically important market for us to be in. We are excited to establish our presence,” said Abhishek Ganguly, managing director of Puma India.

“This being one of the biggest Puma stores in Southeast Asia is a testimony of our commitment to all the professional and aspiring athletes here.

We aim to promote the growth of sport in this nation, supported by our unmatched equipment and gear,” he said.

MA Jabbar, managing director of DBL Group, Puma's local franchisee, said, “We are incredibly proud. We are looking at expanding our footprint in the region.

We are looking at bringing the best of Puma experiences and products to our consumers.”

Pulak Chaudhary, business head of multi brand channel at Puma India, and Abdul Wahed, DBL Group chairman; MA Rahim, vice chairman, and MA Quader, deputy managing director, were also present.
