PM thanks Almighty as cricketers escape Christchurch tragedy
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina expressed her gratitude to the Almighty as Bangladesh national cricket team narrowly escaped New Zealand mosque shootings.
Sheikh Hasina said, “I offer gratitude to Allah the Almighty, because our cricketers went there (New Zealand shooting site) to offer prayer. An injured woman warned them not to go to the mosque. Therefore, their (cricketers) lives were saved.”
The premier said this when she was inaugurating development works through a videoconference from her official Ganabhaban residence on Saturday morning (March 16).
She also said in future, we’ll send our cricket team after ensuring security issues well, because whoever comes to play in our country we always give them proper security. We do it at all times.
She hopes that world leaders will not only condemn such a terror and militant attack, rather take action to stop it.
She termed the attack as hideous, terror and militant. “Shooting people dead after entering their religious institution while they were engaged in prayers, what could be more hideous than this act of violence,” she added.
“Those who are militants have no religion; they neither have a country, nor a religion. They are terrorists. Appropriate action should be taken against them,” Sheikh Hasina also said.
49 people, including three Bangladeshis, were killed at mosque shootings in New Zealand on Friday (March 15).
