PM likely to visit China by July
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Sunday (June 9) said that she would visit China by July to talk about repatriation of Rohingyas who fled to Bangladesh in the face of ethnic cleansing in Myanmar.
Sheikh Hasina said this while replying to a question from a journalist over Rohingya repatriation at a press conference about the outcome of her recent tri-nation visit to Japan, Saudi Arabia and Finland at her official residence Ganobhaban.
In reply to another question over Teesta water sharing, the premier said “We’ve taken the Delta Plan, and we’re dredging rivers. If the plan is implemented and reserve water properly, Bangladesh will not have to seek water from others.
“Bangladesh is delta country. All rivers originated from the Himalayas flow through Bangladesh. If we take steps to preserve water, we won’t have to seek water from others,” she added.
PM Hasina said her government has a plan to dedicate some spots in Cox’s Bazar exclusively to foreign tourists in a bid to flourish county’s tourism sector.
The Prime Minister returned home Saturday morning (June 8) wrapping up her 11-day tri-nation tour to Japan, Saudi Arabia and Finland.
The premier left Helsinki for home on Friday afternoon (Finland time) concluding her five-day official visit to Finland, the third and final destination of her visit.
On her way home, the prime minister made a stopover in Doha, the capital of Qatar.
On June 3, Sheikh Hasina arrived in Helsinki from Jeddah concluding her three-day official tour to Saudi Arabia, the second destination of her tour.
Earlier on May 28, she reached Tokyo, the capital of Japan, the first destination of her tri-nation visit.
During PM’s stay in Japan, the two countries signed the 40th ODA deal involving US$ 2.5 billion after a bilateral meeting between Sheikh Hasina and her Japanese counterpart Shinz? Abe.
