PM announces 2020 as ‘Mujib Year’
DHAKA: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has announced to celebrate the year of 2020 as the ‘Mujib Year’ across the country to mark the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
She made the announcement in her opening speech at a joint meeting of Awami League Advisory Council and Central Working Committee in party’s Bangabandhu Avenue central office on Friday (July 6).
The celebration of Mujib Year will start from March 17 in 2020 and continue till March 26 in 2021.
The premier said Bangabandhu gave us the independence. It was the result of his long struggles and movements and we have to repay his blood debt. That is why we will celebrate his birth anniversary with year long programmes and activities.
The premier said programmes will be taken at both government and party initiatives involving people from all walks of life, including leaders and workers of political and socio-cultural organisations, educationists, intellectuals, teachers, students, workers and professionals.
