Pioneering a go back in the brand new normal
No matter how bad the situation is, no matter how other folks are carrying out, there are a few people who should just complete the job. While cricketers have already been focusing on their fitness in the home and Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) officials have mostly been working from home because the coronavirus outbreak, groundsmen and location personnel experienced no choice but to show up and keep the grounds in shape.
"We have no other choice. We would struggle to enter the bottom on the 3rd day if we didn't work for just two straight times because grass merely grows that swiftly," Syed Abdul Baten, nationwide supervisor of the BCB grounds committee, said.
Jahangir Alam, a good groundsman at the Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah, said he was aware of his responsibilities therefore bore no grudges even though he had to handle difficult times, specially when his area of Narayanganj was strike by the pandemic.
"Since it's our task, we have to keep working. We are working a single shift from 8:00am to 5:00pm. My house is a bit definately not the stadium. Oftentimes, I have possessed to come quickly to work on foot as a result of the lockdown. Often I have been able to come and move in rickshaws," Alam explained. "We use masks. We employ hands sanitizer. Yes, the heading can be tougher than ever before. The situation in the united states is not so excellent. But we are bound to function and we are trying like we applied to because it's our duty."
What such good examples are showing is that it's possible to keep the coronavirus at bay if protocols are strictly preserved in the new normal.
"We have 200 groundsmen all over the country plus they work because they have to. Thanks to Allah, nobody possesses been infected up to now. Everybody is sincerely preserving the rules. Venues are pursuing hygiene and basic safety standards according to the BCB's Covid-19 guidelines," Baten informed.
The protocols have already been preserved so well they are confident they are able to resume activities when asked.
"We've been trying our better to maintain everything. We may need five to a week to achieve the venue all set if the plank wants to start out activities within an extremely short time. We've been in a position to do everything as a result of the BCB's proper recommendations," Fatullah Stadium curator, Shafiul Alam Belal, said.
The break has also been a blessing in disguise as the suspension of cricketing activities gave venues, especially the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur, much-needed respite.
"The rest was necessary for a few grounds because they placed matches continually. This break allows refresh venues," the curator of Chattogram's Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, Zahid Reza Babu, said.
Baten agreed: "A good break always helps maintain venues fit."
Within BCB's efforts to facilitate its exit strategy following disruption due to the pandemic, major overseas and high grade venues have been undergoing maintenance and groundsmen and personnel have retained facilities fully prepared so that cricketers can get rear on the discipline sooner instead of later.
Although the buzz changes when cricketers go back to action, unsung heroes, like groundsmen, must be remembered for overcoming the chances and ensuring a go back to normalcy for ordinary people.
