Panic shopping for pushes up prices of masks, hand sanitiser
The recognition of coronavirus in Bangladesh has triggered a panic buying of face masks, wc paper and hand sanitiser in the united states, like the capital, pushing up their prices.

Traders said persons are stockpiling the things in the united states out of panic after three persons were detected with coronavirus for the first time in the united states on Sunday, UNB reviews.

Visiting some markets in the administrative centre, it was seen that masks had been selling at a great exorbitant price.

Traders said the cost of masks increased by a lot more than 200 percent following their huge demand.

The cost of a mask shot up to Tk 100 on Monday morning, that was Tk 30 on Sunday night. 

Dealers also said the purchase price will dsicover further hike when there is no adequate supply. 

Abdul Halim, a wholesaler at Bangabazar, told UNB that these were selling big masks going back several days. “However the sale went up immensely from Sunday nighttime following the detection of coronavirus in Bangladesh.”

Now, they cannot supply the products according to the demand, he explained.

“We’re now offering a leather mask in Tk 1,200 which was Tk 300 on Sunday simply because we were forced to get those at an increased selling price. Factory owners hiked the purchase price citing a supply crunch. So, we’re as well reselling it at a price,” he added.

Halim also said these were selling medium top quality mask at Tk 100 on Monday that was Tk 30 on Sunday.

Akter Hossain, a retailer at Malibagh, said they were selling a normal mask for Tk 60 against Tk 10 one day ago.

“The price has spiraled due to the large demand. I got to buy masks from wholesale marketplace at a higher price tag and that’s why I’m selling those at an increased price,” he added.

Nazrul Hasan, a pharmacy owner at Najirabazar, said they available huge wc paper, hand sanitiser and masks since Sunday nights. “We sold the items making a small earnings. We’re retailing sanitiser for Tk 80-Tk 200,” he added.  

Speaking with UNB, Saiful Islam, students of Jagannath University, said this individual bought a mask meant for Tk 150 from Old Dhaka which was previous sold at Tk 30-40 only.

“We’re found in panic following the pass on of deadly coronavirus in Bangladesh. I purchased the mask to safeguard me from the virus contagion,” he said.

Many persons were also purchasing masks from over the internet marketplaces.

Observing many online shopping places, incorporating Daraz and Evaly.com.bd, it had been viewed that masks were advertising at Tk 200-3,000 per piece in Monday.

The Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Exploration (IEDCR) on Sunday announced that three coronavirus infected patients were detected in Bangladesh.

Of these, two men and one woman, and most of them have been kept in quarantine.

However, no new circumstance was reported in the last a day till Monday morning.
