No gas supply in parts of Dhaka
Gas supply in elements of the Dhaka stretching from Farmgate to Mirpur-10 has been switched off for 12 hours because of repair and replacement work on a distribution line in Agargaon.

Supply will resume at 8pm on Tuesday, according to an official of the state gas transmission and distribution agency Titas.

Homes, businesses, industries and CNG refuelling stations in Monipuripara, Agargaon, Taltola, Shewrapara, Paikpara, West Kazipara, Pirerbag, Shyamoli, Mirpur-10 and near by areas have already been without gas from 8am, reports bdnews24.com.

Supply has been suspended as tie-in work has been carried out on a sizable gas line underneath a fresh building at the look Department after its valve dropped, said Mirza Mahbub Hossain, manager of Titas' PR wing.

The authorities are also working to repair leaks in a few old pipelines in the area, according to Titas Director Rana Akbar Haidari.

The outage has brought untold sufferings to residents of the influenced parts of the capital who were not prepared for it.

"I then found out after waking up in the morning that I possibly could not light the stove in my kitchen. I didn't hear the announcement regarding the gas shutdown. I hadn't prepared any meals for today," said Soniya Siddiqua, a resident of Shewrapara.
