Nepal tour depends on AFC decision
Bangladesh Football Federation vice-president and National Teams Committee chairman Kazi Nabil Ahmed, MP told the reporters that they would cancel the tri-nation tour on Nepal if the Asian Soccer Confederation permit them to play the home meet of the Joint Qualification Circular for the FIFA Environment Glass’2022 and AFC Asian Glass’2023 against Afghanistan this month.
“We will write to AFC for informing us of our new correspondence and discussions with AFF. AFC will take the ultimate decision, but we even now want to sponsor the meet. If AFC postponed the meet, then we will go for plan B which means we will tour Nepal. But if indeed they want the match below, we will cancel that tour. The whole lot depends on AFC’s decision. For the time being, we begins the camp on March 14 and can await their decision,” Nabil explained after the getting together with of the committee at BFF house on Monday.
Bangladesh was determined to web host the joint qualifiers match against Afghanistan on March 25 in Sylhet District Stadium, but Afghanistan Soccer Federation reluctant to play the game found in Bangladesh. AFF informed BFF within an official letter that they might be interested in participating in in a centralised venue in June.
If AFC cancels the match, the men in crimson and green will fly for Nepal to take up a tri-nation tournament involving Kyrgyzstan and the hosts. The tournament is scheduled to be placed from March 22 to 30 at Dashrath Stadium. The matches will be kept on March 23, 25, 27 and the final on March 29. Prior to the tournament, BFF offers decided to phone the camp on March 14 while players will sign up for with their COVID-19 reports on March 13. The team are expected to fly for Nepal on March 18-20.
Nabil informed that they could include new faces found in the 36-member team for Nepal tour. “We will pick up 33 to 36 participants in the camp. There would be some latest faces. Coach Jamie Evening will disclose it tomorrow (Tuesday). We will also write I League release a Jamal (Bhuiyan). For the time being, we will appoint the fitness trainer, goalkeeping coach and physiotherapist.”
