Narsingdi AL office attacked following protest over nomination
Incumbent parliament member (MP) of Narsingdi-4 constituency (Monohardi-Belabo) Nurul Mazid Mahmud Humayun's supporters allegedly attacked Belabo upazila Awami League office on Tuesday afternoon following a protest over nomination, leaving 10 people injured.

The agitated followers, led by Nurul Mazid's younger brother Khairul Mazid and son Sadi, vandalized the office, fired gun shots and exploded cocktails, alleged Belabo Upazila AL President Shamser Zaman Bhuiyan.

Nurul Mazid Mahmud Humayun was nominated again by Awami League for the constituency to contest the upcoming 11th general election.

Belabo Upazila Chhatra League President Rashedul Islam (Russel) was among the injured in the attack, Shamser Zaman added.

Earlier, supporters of AH Ohidul Haque Aslam Sunny, AL nomination aspirant for the same constituency, staged demonstration in Baroicha Bus Stand area and blocked the Dhaka-Sylhet highway for about two-and-a-half hours from 9:30am on Tuesday, demanding cancellation of Nurul Mazid's nomination.

When the protest news spread, supporters of Nurul Mazid carried out the attack, vandalism and explosion in the office.
