Mushy guides Vikings to top of the table
Mushfiqur Rahim’s decisive knock which saw Chittagong Vikings bag their sixth win of this season’s BPL to climb to the top of the standings at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur today.

Mushfiqur was calm and controlled during his 46-ball 64-run knock and he was given a helpful hand by all-rounder Mosaddek Hossain as the duo dug deep during an 88-run unbroken partnership after Vikings lost four wickets for 71 runs. Rajshahi have been banking on the death overs magic of Mustafizur Rahman in this tournament so far and it seemed he would cause an upset when Mushfiqur hit one hight towards deep square-leg, the fielder only managed to help it on for six as he fumbled a pretty straight forward catch.

Mosaddek Hossain (43* off ) hit the fourth delivery from the final over, to hand a six-wicket victory to the Vikings that took them to the top of the table after nine matches.

Earlier, Rajshahi were sent in to bat first and they lost a couple of wickets early with Soumya Sarkar and Marshal Ayub falling cheaply in a slow start. Laurie Evans was once again at hand and he along with partner in crime Ten Doeschate, starred in a fifty partnership for the third-wicket but Kings were in a bit of trouble as they lost Doeschate and Zakir in quick succession.

Evan picked up his fifty off 45 deliveries with a four of Khaled Ahmed before he accelerated, hitting three fours off Abu Jayed in the 17th over before he hit Khaled for two sixes in the next over. He also perished to Khaled in the same over as he top-edged the paceman after a 56-ball 74.

Christiaan Jonker came in and finished the innings with a flurry of boundaries, hitting three fours and two sixes in a 20-ball 36 to see Rajshahi post a challenging 157/5 on the board.
