Mohun Bagan off to bright start in AFC Cup
Kolkata-based Indian outfit ATK Mohun Bagan FC started their AFC Cup 2021 campaign with a 2-0 win over compatriot JSW Bengaluru FC in the Group D opener at National Stadium in Male, Maldives on Wednesday.

Mohun Bagan’s Fijian captain Roy Krishna and defender Subhashish Bose scored one each for the winners in the match.

Krishna put the ball home with a close-range header to the top right corner, off an assist by defender Subhasish in the 39th minute followed by a corner from French midfielder Hugo Boumous.
Defender Subhasish doubled the lead with his left-footer from the centre of the box to the bottom right corner, off a short pass from their Australian forward David Williams.

Both the teams then created more chances but they couldn’t convert those chances into a goal as Mohun Bagan began their campaign on a winning note.

Mohun Bagan will now take on Maziya Sports and Recreation Club in their second match on August 21 while Bengaluru FC will face Bangladeshi outfit Bashundhara Kings on the same day.
