Middle parts of country fear inundation within days
Low-lying areas of Jamalpur, and Sirajganj could be deluged following onrush of water coming from hills by Sunday night (September 16).
Meanwhile, the middle parts of the country, namely Munshiganj, Shariatpur, Faridpur, Rajbari, and Manikganj districts, could be under water within 2 to 3 days.
Besides, flood situations of Gaibandha and Bogra are likely to worsen further.
Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre (FFWC) under Bangladesh Water Development Board (BWDB) has warned.
“Flooding of these regions could persist 8 to 10 days,” executive engineer of BWDB Mohammad Arifuruzzaman Bhuiyan said.
“BWDB’s main task is to protect flood resistant embankments as well as give flood warning,” added BWDB’s executive engineer Mohammad Arifuruzzaman Bhuiyan.
