Messi doubts reflect chaos at Barcelona
Barcelona may be going to lose the little league but losing Lionel Messi will be much harder to belly.

Messi’s contract is because of expire next calendar year and the Argentinian has reportedly stopped talks because of frustrations with the course of the club.

“Messi is planning to leave Barca,” Spanish radio Cadena Ser said on Thursday.

“Right now, Messi’s idea is to finish his contract in 2021 and leave Barcelona. Messi possesses stalled on the expansion of his agreement. Negotiations had started perfectly, with an excellent understanding between the two parties, but recent happenings have manufactured Messi reconsider everything.”

Asked about suggestions Messi plans to leave Barcelona, mentor Quique Setien said in Saturday: “We won’t speculate relating to this because I haven’t observed from him hence I’m unaware of him declaring anything.

“I see him very well, everything else is speculation that We won’t try. We speak about what we must speak about and nothing else.”

Barcelona take up away at in-form Villarreal on Sunday evening. Legitimate Madrid could by then have extended their lead at the top of the table. They face Athletic Bilbao a few hours earlier.

Real supervisor Zinedine Zidane was asked about Messi’s potential departure in Thursday.

“I don’t really know what may happen but we wish not because he's in this league and we want the very best in this group,” said Zidane.
Messi said found in February he did not believe Barcelona could gain the Champions League on current form.

The 33-year-old in addition has had regular disagreements with the club’s board, headed by president Josep Maria Bartomeu.

Messi reacted publicly when sporting director Eric Abidal seemed to blame the players for the sacking of Ernesto Valverde found in January.

He also led the fightback from the players more than the dispute with the plank in March regarding give cuts during the coronavirus pandemic.

“We cannot help but be surprised that from within the golf club there will be those trying to put us beneath the microscope or perhaps apply pressure for us to do something that we have been clear that people would do,” said Messi.

Barcelona’s presidential elections happen to be due to be held in 2021, when Bartomeu will have to step aside.

Among those placed to run is Victor Font, who would like to appoint Messi’s former team-mate Xavi Hernandez as coach.

Yet Barca’s form, along with suggestions of unrest in the dressing bedroom, have located scrutiny on Setien’s task in the short-term.

He includes a contract until 2022, with a good break clause in 2021, nonetheless it remains to be observed if he is in charge for next season, and even the Champions League in August.

“I've experienced it other circumstances,” explained Setien, when asked about the uncertainty. “It isn't something I could control. This the circus that we happen to be in and we recognize it. “I don’t exhaust myself by studying or listening to the noise around me.”

Xavi replacing Setien would reinvigorate Messi, as well as perhaps the team, but the Spaniard is unlikely to take charge while Bartomeu continues to be in place. That means Xavi would need to wait at least another time.

Messi’s reluctance to continue contract negotiations is actually a political ploy targeted at undermining the current plank further. But at 33, he also doesn't have time to waste.

Unless Barcelona unexpectedly go all the way next month, it'll be five years because the world’s best player has won the Champions League. Both Messi and Europe’s elite clubs will take note he deserves better.
