Maximum growth has no relation with inclusive development: CPD
Maximum growth has no relation with inclusive development, Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD) distinguished fellow Dr Debapriya Bhattacharya said.

Dr Debapriya Bhattacharya came up with the reaction during a press conference on the post-budget press briefing at a city hotel on Friday (June 14).

The CPD distinguished fellow said: “Now our entire development program is based upon infrastructures, which is created by government money and take the growth to its highest level. This is a prehistoric concept. It does not have any relation with the current inclusive development.”

He also said: “Growth increases, but education and health capability are not increasing among minds of poor people of Bangladesh, not even individual investment is growing. As a result, pressure is being created upon social capability. Income discrimination is rising, also discrimination between rich and poor, not to mention of consumption. This discrimination is acute in village economy. This is not a sustainable system.”

The proposed national budget (FY 2019-20) is set to ensure facilities only to the high-income people; he said adding that this budget is completely contrary to the election manifesto of ruling Awami League.
