Mashrafe pleased to end captaincy stint about a winning note
Bangladesh's ODI skipper Mashrafe Mortaza said on Fri that he was relieved to end his tenure as a good leader on the proper note while he was keen not to make any mistake in his farewell game.

Bangladesh defeated Zimbabwe by 123 runs on the rain-hit third ODI and clinched the series by a tidy sweep at the Sylhet International Stadium. With that, Mashrafe completed his leadership stint with 50 wins from 88 ODIs.

Ahead of the last video game, Mashrafe relinquished captaincy, but wanted to continue playing.
''One responsibility possesses lessened. It was a huge responsibility. Someone feels poor, some feel great, I have a combination feeling. But Personally i think good that, I could complete in good posture as captain. And completing with a win will make me feels very good,'' Mashrafe said.

''I cannot declare anything about selection. Nevertheless, you have to do as a captain. And captaincy is normally a huge pressure, exclusively in international cricket. But when I am thinking about myself only as a new player, in that impression, this is a very very good decision for me,'' he said

Mashrafe, who is regarded as Bangladesh's most successful captain, believes that handling cricketers' off-field issues are even more important than guiding them inside the ground seeing that his teammates will get distracted quickly.

''I don't believe there is very much to accomplish on the field, but off the discipline there are so many things regarding the players.

''I think they receive disturbed by so a lot of things. It may be from their spouse and children side, something could possibly be showing up they might not want to see. Personal concerns. Out form, not able to adapt with the coach, health issue. It varies.

"So it's a good captain's responsibility to support him and in addition take the responsibility of the team. Regardless of how bad they play,'' he said.
''I have observed many cricketers who cannot perform because these were focusing entirely on the captaincy instead of giving focus with their game,'' he said.

Though Mashrafe quit T20Is during the coaching tenure of former Sri Lankan cricketer Chandika Hathurusingha (in 2017), he reckoned he enjoyed leading the medial side the most during that phase.

"Many might suspect he [Hathurusingha] was the reason why I had to give up T20Is but that's not the case. Possibly Jamie Siddons has enjoyed a big function as a batting mentor behind the achievements of Shakib [Al Hasan], Tamim [Iqbal], Mushfiqur [Rahim] and others,'' he explained.

Looking ahead, Mortaza strongly believes that today isn't the time designed for Bangladesh cricket to enjoy an excessive amount of experimentation and that the top coach should instead give attention to obtaining the desired results.

''It's not enough time for us to do experiment, it's the time to bring benefits. And whoever the coach comes if he does lots of experiment, that would not be best for Bangladesh cricket,'' he said.

''You cannot find the money for to experiment for half a year and make a modification and then expect them prosper in two years. So management and the board need to see."
