Living cost in Dhaka up 6.5pc in 2019: CAB
The cost of living in the capital increased by 6.5 per cent in 2019 in line with the hike in prices of commodities and services, said Consumer Association of Bangladesh (CAB) on Tuesday (Jan 7).
According to CAB, it was 6 per cent in 2018.
CAB President Ghulam Rahman released the report on the cost of living and other consumer issues at the Jatiya Press Club in the capital on Tuesday (Jan 07).
He said the prices of commodities and services increased by 6.08 per cent in 2019 while it was 5.19 per cent in 2018.
He also said that locally grown onion price increased by 49.52 percent and price of imported one rose by 71.11 percent on average in the previous year.
Vegetable prices increased by 8.13 percent in 2019, he added. Besides, prices of spices also saw a remarkable hike, CAB president added.
